Craig Tracey, local Member of Parliament for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, has welcomed both George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust being successful in receiving Government grants as part of the latest scheme to upgrade and refurbish hospitals.

In total, the scheme is providing £600m worth of funding for NHS hospitals across England, with George Eliot Hospital and University Hospitals Coventry benefitting respectively from £700,000 and £2.2m worth of support.

Commenting on the announcement, Craig said:

‘’I am absolutely delighted to see both of our local NHS Trusts have their funding grants approved and it’s really great to see the Prime Minister follow through on his commitment on levelling up hospital infrastructure across the NHS. This is also pledge I also stood on in the last election and it is truly fantastic to see the super-human effort of staff in our Trusts being matched with the first-class facilities they need to carry on doing the amazing job in providing care to everyone.

I know this latest news will be welcomed extremely warmly by local residents.’’

The vital maintenance work the scheme sets to cover includes 4 projects in George Eliot hospital, including infrastructure works to the maternity building, whilst University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire will see 3 projects delivered.

Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, Secretary of State for Health also commented:

‘’Alongside delivering on our manifesto commitment to build 40 new hospitals and 20 major hospital upgrades across the country, this investment will help our NHS build back better. These crucial maintenance projects will deliver immediate benefits and provide NHS staff with the facilities they need to provide world-class care to their patients this winter, helping ensure the NHS is always there for you when you need it.’’
